2026-2027 Principal & Academy Managing Staff Letter
Welcome Back to a New Sunday School Year!
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
As Principal of FVAMC Academy, it is my honor to welcome our students and families to a new school year and share our vision for the year ahead. This year, our teachers and staff remain committed to creating a welcoming environment where every student can learn, grow, build lasting friendships, and feel proud of their Muslim identity.
Sister Luma Chalabi
Principal FVAMC Academy
FVAMC Academy is excited to welcome our students, parents, teachers, and families to another wonderful Sunday School year! We look forward to a year filled with learning, friendship, personal growth, and a stronger connection to Islam.
Sunday School is about much more than classroom lessons. It is a place where our children can develop a love for Allah ﷻ, learn from the beautiful teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, strengthen their Islamic character, and take pride in their Muslim identity. Our dedicated teachers are preparing engaging lessons and activities to help students grow in knowledge, faith, confidence, and good manners.
New Year, New Goals
As the year begins, we encourage every student to set personal goals, including:
- Learning and memorizing new surahs and duas.
- Improving Qur’an reading and understanding.
- Practicing good Islamic manners and character.
- Being kind, respectful, and helpful to others.
- Participating actively in classroom and school activities.
- Building friendships and supporting fellow students
We ask our students to arrive each Sunday with an open heart, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Welcoming Our Teachers
FVAMC Academy is blessed to have retained nearly all of our wonderful teaching staff this year. We are also pleased to welcome Sister Elena Murphy, who will serve as our new Pre-K assistant and lead the girls’ youth program on Friday evenings.
Several returning teachers will take on new assignments:
- Sister Hanifa will serve as the new head Pre-K teacher.
- Sister Nazia, who previously taught Qur’an, will now teach third grade.
- Sister Haneen will lead Qur’an lessons for grades two, four, five, and six.
Families interested in learning more about our returning teachers and reading their biographies can visit the FVAMC Academy faculty page.
We are grateful to all our teachers for the time, energy, and care they devote to our children.
Parents Are Essential Partners
Parents play an important role in their children’s Islamic education. Your encouragement, involvement, and partnership with our teachers make a tremendous difference. Families can support their children by helping them attend regularly, arrive prepared, complete assignments, and practice their lessons at home.
Parents are also invited to stay for coffee and spend time together in the social hall while their children are in class. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other FVAMC families, make new friends, and strengthen our community.
Our revitalized Parent Teacher Organization made a tremendous contribution last year by supporting our teachers, staff, and students. One of its projects was an outdoor recess cart stocked with balls, chalk, and other activities for students to enjoy on pleasant days. Parents interested in joining or supporting the PTO can find the group in the FVAMC WhatsApp Community or ask a staff member to be added.
Looking Ahead
We are looking forward to another memorable year of learning, community, celebrations, and special programs. Following the success of last year’s activities, families can look forward to events such as:
- Winter Wonderland.
- Muslim Heritage Month.
- Parent-teacher conferences.
- Ramadan Food Drive.
- Hajj simulation.
- End-of-year barbecue
May Allah ﷻ bless our teachers for their dedication, our parents for their support, and our students for their efforts. May He make this a year of beneficial knowledge, strong faith, lasting friendships, and meaningful growth for our entire community.
Welcome back, FVAMC families. Bismillah—we are ready for a great year!
With warm wishes, FVAMC Academy Staff
