FVAMC is establishing a WhatsApp Community to enhance communication among members and to share information that benefits the community. This Policy outlines the rules and guidelines governing the use and operation of this platform.

To be enrolled and remain a member in the FVAMC WhatsApp Community, you must meet these conditions: 

1. Reside in the Farmington Valley area and surrounding towns, with verifiable engagement with FVAMC (e.g., attends and or contributes to FVAMC programs and events).
2. Have a properly set up WhatsApp profile that includes full name and phone number. Profiles with missing full name, or inappropriate, offensive, or misleading names, handles, or symbols are not permitted. Such issues must be corrected prior to admission (click on the button below for instructions).
3. Adhere to the Rules and Etiquette below.

1. Messages will expire after 24 hours. Posts will delete automatically.
2. Your post must be appropriate. Although there is not always a clear way to determine the appropriateness of a message, one should always use his/her your judgment and common sense when posting.
3. Avoid posting messages that may be perceived by others as hateful, offensive, provocative, derisory, or insulting.
4. Limit your posting to reasonable hours, not anytime / anyplace. Don’t post after bedtime. We recommend that you post 9am-9pm.
5. Keep your message short and to the point.
6. Before hitting send, take that extra 3 seconds to check how your message is worded. Would an outsider (not in our community) misconstrue your intentions?
7. Do not blindly forward messages. Make sure to at least read the message before forwarding.
8. Check your resources before posting. Use reliable and verifiable sources.
9. Be mindful of protected / security sensitive items (even kids being sick/late picked up by others should not be noted in community chat).
10. If the initial post carries on as a conversation between two people in the group, take it offline.
11. Messages should be posted in English. Any message posted in a foreign language must be accompanied by the English translations.
12. Do not post religious opinions / judgements.
13. Members who violate this policy will be issued a warning. Any subsequent violation may result in removal from the group at the discretion of the Community Admins.
