THURSDAY DECEMBER 10, 2015

Dear FVAMC Community Members – Asalamu Alaikum,

The last few days have been very difficult for the Muslim community in the aftermath of the horrific events in San Bernardino and Paris. Please keep the victims and all those affected by these tragic events in your prayers. While we hear hate speeches from few outspoken individuals, we are heartened by the President’s remarks in his Oval Office address last week and the support of our local and national leaders. We pray Allah  – SWT– support the President and our leaders and grant them the wisdom and courage to do what’s right.

Some of our members have inquired about the safety and the security of our facilities. We want to assure everyone that we are safe and secure – Almadullilah. We have received nothing but letters of support and well wishes from our neighbors and non-Muslim friends who stand by us during this difficult time.  The Town of Avon Police Department has been extraordinarily supportive. In a meeting with the Chief of Police and his staff, they have agreed on the following measures to beef up our security and ensure our safety:

  1. Starting immediately, provide extra patrol when the community congregates on Fridays, Sundays, and weekdays when classes are in session.
  2. To help us conduct a thorough security audit of our facility and remediate any security gaps.
  3. Officers to address FVAMC Academy students and teachers to assure them of their safety and answer any questions.
  4. To assign a Community Liaison Officer to FVMAC. The officer will work directly with FVAMC and be our conduit to the police department.

Please remember that FVAMC is here for you not only as a resource, but also as a place you can call home – where you can find comfort, peace, and support.  We are more determined than ever to intensify our efforts to reach out to our members and the community at large to show what our faith is really all about.
