Religious Director

Imam Safwan joined the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center full time in 2020 as the Religious Director and Youth Leader. He completed his B.S. in Psychology at the University of Connecticut. He completed his Arabic studies with honors in less than a year at Bayyinah Institute. He then went on to Qalam Seminary to further his studies in islamic jurisprudence, Quranic hermeneutics, and theology. He was honored to be selected as the Muslim Interfaith Coordinator in 2019 at the esteemed Chautauqua Institute. He is currently completing his Masters of Religious Studies and Islamic Chaplaincy at the Hartford Seminary. He holds and continues to pursue Ijazāt in the sacred sciences. Imam Safwan believes in leading the community through service.
